THE OWNERS
Gentle Giant Promotions is managed and co-ordinated by husband and wife team, Wayne and Michelle Price. They head this dynamic promotions company and as Wayne is a celebrity within this realm of sport, locally and internationally, this team has hands on experience which has proven to be the winning formula.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Wayne Price is a popular personality in the bodybuilding world, and has been a sport and event promoter, coordinating stage productions and sporting festivals since 1991. In his own right, Wayne has enjoyed a successful career in bodybuilding and achieving strongman feats that have earned him a number of titles and several world records.
Among others, Wayne has held the title of Strongest Man in South Africa and consistently ranked well in the World's Strongest Man, Strongest Man on Earth, and World Mighty Man contests in the nineties. Among the crowd-pleasing feats he has been responsible for was using his strength to pull a Boeing 747 in 1991, with the objective of being invited to compete in strongman contests overseas.
In 2002 he coordinated a world record endeavor that saw 20 athletes, including himself, pulling a 20-tonne truck from Johannesburg to Cape Town over a period of 35-days.
Wayne is the founder of Wayne's Gym in Centurion, where a number of world class competitors in strength, fitness and physique were and continue to be groomed. He has dedicated his immense energy to assisting athletes to achieve their dreams by scouting for local potential to take up scholarships overseas. He recently launched a new company, YSP, that makes provision for up and coming talent . Always thinking big, Wayne will be hosting the first R1 million amateur bodybuilding show in South Africa this coming October.
He has thrown his passion and presence behind the Arnold Classic Africa multi-sport event as Executive Director, as he shares the sentiment and objectives of ACA founder Arnold Schwarzenegger in making bodybuilding and every other sport accessible to all, so that all may realize the life-changing and health benefits brought about by physical activity.
